Part II – JOURNAL ENTRY NUMERO DOS!
So anyone who knows me deep down truly gets that I’m a solid Nintendo fan at heart — but like any fan (even the most dedicated ones out there), we all have our flaws ; I would have to say that I am no different. Get ready for it — here it comes —- I have a semi – big confession to make…..
I have never purchased a Nintendo Switch or played one for longer than an hour at a time!!!!! In fact, it gets worse : What I have played of it has been not much more than “demo games” that cycle out and restart after a few minutes. For someone like me, who has (at one point or another) owned and played EVERY prior Nintendo console ever known to man (except for the foreign ones available in other countries on exclusive, limited bases….those do not count), this is a HUGE deal. I am somewhat ashamed to admit it, but ah, now it’s been said. And I can fully breathe out that nice sigh of relief…..the truth has been spoken, and the world now knows how imperfect of a gamer Efrain Silva really is (much less a solid Nintendo hardcore fan).
for those of you who read my LAST entry, hopefully, it’s all sunk in by now (and I’ve been truly forgiven). I’m learning. And I haven’t given up on gaming altogether, so that’s what really counts here….
In this short blog post, let me tell you about the first time I ever played Super Mario Kart Wii – U. It would be — you guessed it — at my local Target store! Now, mind you, I had played several prior Mario Kart games (the very first one still being my all – time favorite…you remember the one they made for the N64?). But this one was an all – new experience, of course, offering new players, levels, colors, weapons, kart styles and so much more. I was hooked!
I remember that one particular afternoon when I was literally bored out of my mind (heh, not too different from now, when the whole world is on lock – down due to the Covid 19 crisis that’s going on everywhere). Anyways, that afternoon, I literally walked around a shopping area that’s not too far from where I live; in this shopping area, the store that appealed the most (and was the biggest and baddest in the shopping area, you might say) was that Super Target!
Now, I had always walked past the electronics & gaming section, but I had never truly stopped in there to check things out and take my time. I usually was busy working and going to school.
But this time, things began to change. What happened in this first experience???? THAT, my friend, would be MARIO KART 8!
(TO BE CONTINUED…..)
